A little planning makes a painting project easier on everyone. Agree on responsibilities in advance so you know what to move, what to protect, and which rooms will be available.
Clear the small and personal items
Remove pictures, tabletop decorations, fragile objects, and valuables from the work area. Empty the surfaces that need painting. Ask before moving heavy furniture; the written scope should explain who handles it and where it will go.
Plan your daily route
Talk through access to bedrooms, bathrooms, the kitchen, and exterior doors. Choose a place for pets and children away from the work zone. If you work from home, mention calls, quiet hours, and the need to keep a particular room usable.
Confirm the details together
Check the color names and sheens, surfaces included, and any repairs. Point out loose hardware, previous leaks, or areas you are concerned about. Discuss furniture protection, cleanup, parking, and access to water or power as needed.
Make a quick handover list
Before work starts, share a contact number, any access instructions, and the location of the agreed staging area. Keep a short list of questions for the final walkthrough. Clear communication is more useful than trying to prepare every detail on your own.
